Handling Pushy Co-Workers

I just go through same situation recently in my workplace, So I thought to publish this in my blog..
It is a tough world out there! We have often heard this phrase repeated to us by our parents, guardians or well-wishers. But it is only when we set our foot within the premises of a workplace do we get to understand the intensity and inner meaning of these words. In a place where hundreds of people come together and associate with each other, it is but natural that differences in opinions arise. This often leads to arguments and strained relations which become difficult to handle at times. You may often come across people who are prone to aggressive talks, conflicts and pushiness. This might even drain you off your motive and zeal at times. It is vital to have a good working atmosphere lest the place gets suffocating and overpowering for you. Handling a pushy coworker needs some technique and understanding. Read on to know how exactly to do this.

Tips For Handling Pushy Coworkers

  • The key to handling pushy coworkers is to avoid any kind of chatting or gossiping. Avoid trusting anyone who appears to be too friendly offering help for no good reasons. Many a times, people come to talk or offer help with your work. This might actually be an attempt to get information about your work which might be later used against you. So, make it a point to politely but firmly avoiding any personal talks in between office hours.
  • Never disclose anything private or personal as you can never know when this might be used against you. It is also advisable not to mingle work with pleasure. This will be beneficial for you as no one will be able to put forward words against you.
  • Wise people always keep a tab on their daily conversations and activities. Maintain daily records and document every task performed by you. Today, the computer being a major form of managing records and documents, can easily be sabotaged or duplicated without even your consent. Hence, it is always better to maintain back-up files and reports.
  • Draw clear boundaries and never try to follow the ways that you feel is wrong or inappropriate. Some colleagues can get really pushy and try to convince you to do a task a particular way. The simplest way to avoid this is by clearly and politely explaining your view on the situation. You might even receive critical opinions on your work. If so, simply offer your gratitude for the helpful feedback and let the situation go.
  • Some people might try to corner you at office by creating tensions and disputes over small situations. The best way to handle this is to avoid such small talks completely. However, if the situation becomes a little too strong, you can in a mild manner express your opinion on the issue.
  • Make decisions according to the intensity of the condition. In case, it is getting out of hand and you are finding it difficult to manage, you can take it to the supervisor and ask for maintaining a healthy atmosphere at the workplace.
  • You can also change the seat allocation if you are at close proximity with the ‘pushy’ colleague.

Low Self Esteem : Ways to Overcome

Life is too short to for complexities and self-pity. To lead a happy and contented life, we should learn to create our own identity and develop a sense of self-confidence. The prime concept behind ‘self-confidence’ is to accept and love yourself, despite our flaws and defects. We should always remember that no one in this world is perfect and expecting too much from own self can always lead to a lot of depression and despair, particularly if the wishes are not fulfilled. Accepting who you are will go a great deal in helping you achieve success, be it any sphere of life.
I just go through the some research on it. I described that in below phrase:
Different psychotherapists and counselors have come up with different definitions of self-esteem. In fact, the terms self esteem, self-respect and self-integrity are deemed to be closely related with each other. To know whether you are suffering from low self-esteem (LSE), you should be able to recognize the signs and symptoms and then act accordingly. In case it is the initial stage, of mild to moderate degree of LSE, then taking care of the situation can be quite simple and easy. However, in the latter stages, it can take a lot of effort on your part and you may even need to opt for professional advice or help. Given below are some tips on how you can fix the problem of low self-esteem.

How To Overcome Low Self Esteem which i follow/used to do in my life:
·         Make a list of all your strength and weaknesses. Now, start with your strengths and talk about them. Once you feel that you can handle your weakness, select one of them and think of ways of how you can improve it.
·         Accept and welcome compliments from others, even if you feel that you don’t deserve them. Also, never fail to congratulate yourself when you do anything good.
·         Try to judge what is right for you and strive to find a balance between what you feel and what you know to be true. Make it a point not to blindly accept criticism and blame from others.
·         Do not attempt to take a major leap in life, to move closer to your goals. You should keep in mind that a single small step towards achievement is better than one major leap leading to failure.
·         Try to judge your capacities and set goals or aims in accordance with them. Failure to fulfill unexceptionally high aims can lead to a lot of depression and subsequently low self-esteem.
·         Always keep in mind that nobody in this world is perfect and desiring perfectionism from oneself can lead to low self-esteem.
·         Be careful while choosing friends. Be with only those people who support you and have a positive approach towards life.
·         Spend some time everyday in doing something that you enjoy. This can be anything from reading a book to listening to music to walking in the park. Feel yourself getting engulfed with the joy of performing these activities. This will definitely increase your sense of self worth and self-integrity.
·         Never put yourself below others and avoid any form of negative comments regarding your skills and activities.

Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be !!
