My Favorites RUMI Poetry....

A Persian poet and a Sufi mystic, Rumi has always been my favorite. A poet whose words give peace to my soul. Here are some verses that I love of Rumi. Hope you like them too!!!

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you
                         Don't go back to sleep
                              You must ask
                      For what you really want
                       Don't go back to sleep
People are going back and forth
                          Across the doorsill
                 Where the two worlds touch
The door is round and open
                     Don't go back to sleep
                                       ---------
Today I'm out wandering, turning my skull
into a cup for others to drink wine from.
In this town somewhere there sits a calm,
                       intelligent person
who doesn't know what he's about to do!
                                       ---------
                                    Be Fair
Admit that love has in it all the righteousness
                         that we need.
Confess that you're willing to forget
and be numb enough to call some low
                          desire a holy name.
Live as evidence that there is a way
                       from wanting to longing.
                                       ------------
When I am with you, we stay up all night.
When you're not here, I can't go to sleep.
Praise God for these two insomnias!
                and the difference between them.

                                    -----------
                  When it's cold and raining,
                   You are more beautiful.
And the snow brings me even closer to your lips.
The inner secret, that which was never born
you are that freshness, and I am with you now
I can't explain the goings, or the comings.
You enter suddenly, and I am
            nowhere again. Inside the majesty.
                                        ----------
Keep walking though there's no place to get to.
Don't try to see through the distances.
                     That's not for human beings
                     Move within but don't move
The way that fear makes you move.
                                        ---------

Out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing,
There is a field. I'll meet you there
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
                   Ideas, language, even the phrase
                         doesn't make any sense.

Life is a Mystery

When life is a mystery with secrets untold,
survival can’t depend on just money or gold!

If time is an illusion and nothing is certain,
it’s difficult to measure the loss and the gain.

When each one of us is a prisoner here,
what makes us believe we can claim our share?

If change is only constant, and death, an ultimate solution,
forever and always seem nothing but delusion…

Along one lonely road, you slowly lose yourself,
with a desire to earn the mountains of wealth!

No matter how hard you try, you will always lose this game,
leaving everything you earned - your name, your fame!

In the end what matters is how much you share,
without a discussion on what’s yours...what’s theirs

If the people who loved you are all long gone
then, who are these strangers that call you their own!!!

Dreams at Night!!!!

Ever wondered why all creative activity finds its potential in silence? What is thinking? Is it giving time to your mind to express itself, or just a process to browse your mind, or the instinct(popularly known as The Voice of Heart)?
I probably spend far too much time thinking about life. So many nights I have spent thinking - Thinking about various things, feeling sleepy but do not want to sleep- Just staring at my ceiling- thinking of doing something- something other than nothing- about the figures and colors I want to paint those empty canvases with, thoughts of packing my bags and running away towards the mountains, about the musical instruments I would love to learn, lost friends I would want to meet again, or just a weird imagination that if I try to spread my hands would I be able to fly like birds? About many unfulfilled dreams that are the basic cause of thoughts or may be about that charming guy I have always wanted to be with, in the sunset, holding hands!!!

And then spending whole day in making various schemes on how to turn these thoughts into reality. Have you ever had your most constructive thought at night, of how wonderful life could be? There is a strange kind of reality in these thoughts it seems, that give our lives a strange excitement. Remember Santiago, that famous character of the book 'The Alchemist' who believed in his dream so much that he traveled all the way to Egyptian Pyramids in order to chase his dream? It creates a great feeling of passion to turn these dreams into reality.

I am sure, to some extent , these late night thoughts are the basic and the most important reason for the kind of life we lead and are the first step towards achievement, as each thought is a creator of new experience and when we put all our effort to turn these imaginary experiences into reality, life becomes a wonderful journey, I believe. It is an addiction to be lost in the dreams!!!

When I am with you

I can be myself when I am with you…
Because you make me feel like I have never felt before…
I can tell you anything…any crap…can vent any amount of frustration…& you have started listening to it…
Your undying faith is what keeps the flame of love alive….
You and me together…simply create MAGIC….
Thinking of you, fills me with a wonderful feeling…
Your love gives me the feeling, that the best is still ahead…
You never give up on me, and that’s what keeps me going…
You are simply irresistible….
Your terrific sense of humour…
I have had the best time of my life with you and I owe it all to you.
When I look into your eyes, I can see your heart…
Your love has helped me to rediscover myself…b confident…
I love to walk with you by my side…It makes my journey better…
I love that feeling of being secure when you wrap your arms around me…
I love the way you keep your cool when I do something stupid…
I like your small gestures that speak volumes about how much you care…
You mean the world to me…
I love the way you patch up with me after a stupid fight…
And, of course, your intelligence, ’cause you were smart enough to fall in love with me.........:)

I love Monsoon

Since I was a kid, monsoons never ceased to amaze me. It is by far, the most beautiful season of the year. The smell of rains, the sound of raindrops and the rainbows are the most amazing sights! They mesmerize me to no end. As a kid, when we went to school, the bus being delayed was an excuse for us to splash water on friends and play in the mud pool. Being dirty never mattered back then. Those innocent giggles and rain drenched faces! Oh, I so miss them! College meant rainy seasons spent in canteen and gossip with friends! And now, with office, a walk on the Bangalore Road or seeing the monsoon from my 3rd floor building ,it’s  a picturesque scene which is not worth missing! Rains make me go all nature loving and mushy!
But every happy thing changes somewhere when you are all grown up and mature. Let me, for instance add bullets to my issues during monsoons:
  • I JUST hate when commuting is a problem during monsoons. Like where do the auto rickshaws suddenly disappear? They used to swarm around and go all honk honk honk, but now, when you are all swollen eyed, running late for office and the skies have decided to empty all of its day’s quota, you don’t find one bloody single rickshawala!!! And all you can do is AAaaaarrghhhh!!!
  • Next, the great BANGALORE ROADS. Is it just my imagination or the pot holes do multiply by infinite every year? We deal with all the road construction taking place round the year, with the hope of a better monsoon; but the “new” roads cannot even bear the wrath of the first rain of the season and we are blessed with knee-deep water logging!
  • Also, the streets are so clean (irony intended) that the water logging brings with itself all sorts of amazing sights like plastic floating, drainage issues, dirt and yuck coming out from everywhere on roads!!! And to say that we live in an ultra modern ‘metro’
  • Buses. How can rain and bus be not part of the same sentence? Delays, derails and cancellations are all given as free surprises to the ‘all-drenched out’, ‘already running late’ and ‘in the nick of time’ working people!
  • What’s more, you are not even at peace inside the house. The litter, the flies, the dampness all add to a housemaker’s woes. Suddenly there is dearth of brightness in the house. The washed clothes refuse to dry themselves. The whole process of washing-drying-ironing gets disturbed and there are pile ons, the cleaning process multifolds and much much more!
